A Special Education Unit for the Differently Abled Students has been officially inaugurated by the Methodist Church, Srilanka in the name of DEAF LINK in 2001 and the theme had been officially approved by the Ministry of Education under the system of Inclusive Education in 2008 and successfully functioning till date under the direct supervision of the Principal and the school management.
It has been operated with great difficulties without spaced classrooms, attached toilets, teaching & learning materials suitable for the innocent students.
The following defective students are being taught in the unit.
(Learning disabilities, Speech & Language impairment, Mental retardation, Emotional Disturbances, Multiple disabilities, Orthopedic impairment, Hearing impairment, Visual impairment, Deaf, blindness, Autism and Brain injury)
Deaf & Dump – 13

Slow Learners – 07
Cerebral palsy – 04
Epilepsy – 01
Mental Retardation- 07
Note: Around 75 children are unable to attend the one and only centre in the region covering from Karaitivu to Kaluwanchikudy ( 4 Divisional Secretariats) due to the lack of building.
